Assessment and Therapy for Young People (5 - 17 years)
Amber has experience working in nonprofits, education, and the public sector with children and their families. She is well versed in both internalising presentations (anxious, withdrawn, sensitive) and externalising presentations (angry, reactive, high energy).
She has a particular interest in attachment, bonding, gender identity, Autism, and ADHD.
For many young people, they have very little control over their daily lives. Some research estimates children receive 200-300 instructions per day from authority figures. Any person receiving that many instructions per day would be distressed and angry.
For many young people, a consistent and nurturing environment is enough for them to thrive emotionally. Please note that psychologists are not able to prescribe medication and this requires attendance with a pediatrician or psychiatrist.
If engaging Amber for either assessment or therapy you can expect a warm and compassionate approach, along with research backed strategies to empower caregivers.
