Imaginal Exposure

The IOCDF Scripting for Success presentation introduces imaginal scripting as a way to face fears that can’t be safely or easily confronted in real life (e.g., harm OCD, paedophilia OCD, false memory OCD, existential OCD are some common examples).

Scripts vividly describe the feared scenario in first person, aiming to create anxiety and uncertainty—not reassurance—so the brain learns that distress is tolerable.

They are especially useful for mental obsessions and help target the core fears directly.

Worry Time

This worksheet provides some of the theory and steps required for worry time.

This is a helpful skill for evaluate which of our worries are actual problems that need attention right this moment, and other worries that might need attention - just not in this moment.

In postponing your worries, we learn to put a boundary on the impact that our worries has on us.

As we prioritise the practice of worry time, our brain can let us come back to the present moment because it learns to trust that our "worries" will be attended to.

Problem Solving

If you are doing to spend some focused attention on your worries, then you might as well make the time productive.

This problem solving worksheet will help with clarifying which problems are in your control and you can do something about, versus those problems that we need to learn to live with.

For maximum benefit, use pen and paper, and have your diary ready for "planning in" any of your action points.
